Tax Operations Manager

Brief summary of job profile: Tax Operations Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing all tax compliance and reporting activities for Highlands Coffee BU, ensuring adherence to local tax regulations and company policies. The role focuses on accurate and timely filings, minimizing tax risks, maintaining effective communication with tax authorities, and driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance. In addition, this position supports the BU accounting team on tax-related matters and collaborates closely with the Corporate Tax function as needed.

Key Accountabilities:

Tax Compliance:

• Manage & ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate tax returns, VAT, PIT, withholding taxes, and other statutory obligations.
• Monitor compliance with local tax regulations.
• Oversee tax audits and liaise with tax authorities as required.
• Handle transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with related-party transaction regulations.

Tax Planning and Guidance:

• Propose and implement tax plans for the BU to ensure compliance and optimize tax outcomes.
• Provide guidance on tax implications for business operations, new ventures, and transactions.
• Review contracts and agreements to identify tax risks and provide recommendations.
• Keep the BU updated on changes in tax laws and assess the impact on BU operations.
• Partner with the finance team to ensure alignment between financial strategies and tax planning.
• Provide training and guidance to finance and operational teams on tax matters.

Tax Reporting:

• Prepare and manage tax provisions for financial reporting.
• Ensure accurate reporting of tax-related accounts and disclosures in financial statements.
• Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and assess the impact on BU operations.

Process Improvement:

• Implement and optimize internal controls and processes related to tax compliance and reporting.
• Drive automation and efficiency improvements in tax-related operations.

Job Requirement

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Certified Tax Advisor (CTA), CPA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
• 06+ years of relevant experience in tax compliance and planning, preferably in in multinational, Big Four, or Retail environment.
• Proven track record of managing tax-related projects and supporting teams.
• In-depth knowledge of local tax laws, including corporate tax, VAT, PIT, other taxes and transfer pricing.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and tax reporting software.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance and financial risk management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial reporting.
• Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive financial information
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
• Fluent in English written and verbal skills.
