JOB PURPOSE
The Valuation Actuary is responsible for leading and executing all Actuarial valuation, financial reporting and reserve related activities for TC Life.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Key Accountabilities (1)
1. Responsible for all Actuarial Valuation activities in Techcom Life, including Embedded value, reserving, statutory reporting, solvency reporting and IFRS 17 (if required)
Perform and oversee valuation of life insurance liabilities under applicable reporting bases
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual actuarial reports including reserves, sensitivities and analysis of change internally and for regulatory filings
• Ensure completeness accuracy and consistency of actuarial models and assumptions
• Produce profitability analysis, reserve movements and drivers of earnings
• Support wider finance team in budget planning
• Manage external audit reviews
2. Develop and maintain the standards for reporting, including:
- Creating the TEV standards to be used in Embedded Value reporting
- Participating in the V-RBC working groups and lobbying the regulator
- Development of Solvency reporting
- Ensure compliance with IFRS 17, RBC regulations, actuarial standards of practice (ASOP), and emerging global reporting requirements.
3. Support the Appointed Actuary in all regulatory activities.
- Ensure Appointed Actuary reports are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Manage communication with the MOF for the Actuarial function
- Participate in the Actuarial Working Group.
Key Accountabilities (2)
3. Executive Advisory and Strategic Influence
Drive the direction the company by making EV a cornerstone of decision making. Help to explain results to other departments and develop educational opportunities to explain key Actuarial concepts.
- Advise C-level leadership on implications of strategic decisions including capital optimization, product redesign, and M&A activities.
- Provide forward-looking insights using embedded value, cash flow testing, new business strain analysis, and profit emergence simulations.
- Review and challenge business plans and embedded assumptions to safeguard long-term financial soundness and shareholder value.
- Lead critical incident reviews tied to valuation errors, assumption breaches, or regulatory findings and define corrective actions.
4. Talent Strategy and Competency Development
- Build and manage a succession pipeline for valuation leaders via structured mentorship programs, rotational assignments, and personalized capability-building roadmaps.
- Define role-based technical benchmarks and lead professional certification initiatives across the valuation function (SOA, FIA, ACCA, etc.).
- Chair internal valuation review forums to promote peer challenge, technical discourse, and cross-team collaboration.
- Drive DE&I values and cultivate a resilient, high-performance team culture rooted in excellence and ethics.

- Attract, onboard and retain the right talent for a high- performing team
