Job Description

Engineering and preparation

- Define the installation scope, design basis, riser/OEM data, vessel RAOs/motions, metocean inputs and FSO interfaces; establish the deliverable register, engineering plan and technical scopes.

- Prepare/check method statements, procedures and sequences for spooling/loadout, overboarding, pull-in, hang-off, connection and recovery, including rigging, pull-in route and equipment arrangement drawings.

- Perform/check static and dynamic installation models and analyses, defining tensions, curvature/MBR, end loads, clearances, touchdown, weather limits and contingencies; assess fatigue where included in scope.

- Evaluate vessels, carousels/reels, tensioners, winches, chutes/sheaves, pull-in systems and installation aids against OEM limits; prepare MTOs, requisitions, technical evaluations and mobilisation plans.

Offshore execution

- Provide offshore engineering support/supervision for deployment, pull-in, hang-off and subsea connection, monitoring tensions, MBR, touchdown and clearances against procedures and OEM limits.

- Coordinate the FSO, installation vessel, OEM, survey and ROV/diving teams; conduct readiness, HAZID/HIRA/JSA and SIMOPS reviews, and coordinate inspection, testing and preservation to approved procedures.

Technical coordination and Lead responsibilities

- Manage technical queries, deviations and changes through management of change (MOC), updating calculations/procedures and obtaining approval within the delegated authority before implementation.

- Interface with the client, designer, OEMs, contractors and Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS)/Class within their respective scopes, closing technical comments, securing approvals and handing over as-built records.

- For Lead: allocate engineering work, manage deliverable quality/schedule, lead reviews and coach the team, checking/approving documents within delegated authority. Senior Engineers work independently and support junior engineers.

Job Requirement

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Offshore/Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.

Experience:

- Senior: Minimum 8 years of offshore/T&I experience, including at least 3 years of direct experience in the advertised specialist scope.

- Lead: Minimum 12 years of offshore/T&I experience, including at least 5 years in the specialist scope, with experience leading a relevant engineering package or installation campaign.

- At least one relevant project demonstrating substantive involvement in both engineering preparation and offshore execution. The CV should identify the project, system type, personally prepared/checked deliverables and onboard responsibilities.

Essential technical competence

- Direct installation engineering and offshore experience with flexible risers connected to FSO/FPSO or comparable floating units, clearly distinguished from rigid pipeline or offloading hose experience.

- Develop/review loadout/spooling, overboarding, deployment, pull-in, hang-off, connection and abandonment/recovery sequences appropriate to the system configuration and project scope.

- Understand catenary/free-hanging or wave configurations relevant to previous experience, including end fittings, bend stiffeners/restrictors, buoyancy modules and the applicable hang-off arrangement.

- Ability to perform/review static and dynamic installation analyses covering tension, minimum bend radius (MBR), curvature, end-fitting loads/limits, touchdown behaviour, clearances and vessel motions.

- Check OEM limits for tension, tensioner squeeze, sheave/chute radius, torsion and handling loads, coordinating ROV/diving, post-installation inspection and testing to approved procedures.

Software

- Proficient in OrcaFlex or equivalent riser analysis software, supported by flexible riser installation modelling/analysis experience. OrcaFlex is preferred; explain assumptions, load cases and result checks.

- Use AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and engineering calculation tools. Structural analysis software is advantageous for installation aids reviews.

Codes and standards: Understand API RP 17B, DNV-ST-N001 and DNV-ST-F201 within the applicable scope. Know API Spec 17J for unbonded pipe and API Spec 17K for bonded pipe, together with OEM/client/MWS/Class requirements.

Language proficiency: Good technical English for client meetings, document review and preparation of procedures/reports, with the ability to explain and defend installation methodologies.

Certifications: Valid project-appropriate BOSIET/FOET or T-BOSIET/T-FOET and offshore medical certification are advantageous. Meet project training and medical requirements before offshore mobilisation; HSE/lifting training is preferred.

Skills and working arrangements

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, document quality control and multidisciplinary coordination. Senior Engineers work independently; Lead Engineers allocate, check and guide engineering work.

- Willing to be based in Vung Tau and undertake domestic/international travel and offshore construction vessel assignments as required.
