Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

  • Ensure every new mold project, repair, and modification has an accurate and current plan—from order release to final acceptance to meets agreed delivery dates.
  • Plan and control the flow of jobs through the mold shop: material preparation, CNC, polishing/assembly, inspection, repair, and outsourced processes.
  • Give management and production teams a clear daily picture of what must be done, what is late, what is blocked, and what action is required.
  • Build simple, disciplined planning routines and data for a mold shop: realistic lead times, capacity planning, and on-time-delivery control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive the new mold delivery time and priorities from the Project team, check internally, then confirm the requested delivery date.
  • Create and update daily the master plan and milestone schedule for different mold-making processes.
  • Break the mold into major components and operations; define planned start/finish dates and the critical path for each project.
  • Prepare and issue the daily and weekly job-priority plan for each mold-making process.
  • Check actual work completed on the shop floor and in the digital system every day; update WIP status, remaining operations, estimated completion date, and next process.
  • Reschedule jobs when priorities, engineering changes, machine breakdowns, quality issues, or material delays occur, after alignment with responsible stakeholders.
  • Create and follow up the material/component requirement list for mold steel, standard parts, fixtures, heat treatment, coating, and external machining.
  • Work with Purchasing and suppliers to confirm arrival dates and immediately report shortages that can delay the plan.
  • Control outsource dispatch and return dates; ensure external jobs are included in the master schedule and followed to completion.
  • Maintain a daily list of open jobs, due dates, overdue operations, bottlenecks, and recovery actions.
  • Organize or support short daily production meetings; record the action owner, target completion date, and status for each key issue.
  • Issue a weekly progress report showing project status, plan-versus-actual completion, jobs at risk, material shortages, outsource status, and delivery forecast.
  • Collect actual processing and waiting times to improve future planned lead times and capacity assumptions.
  • Maintain a simple planning database for job status, routing, machine loading, planned dates, actual dates, and delay reasons.
  • Propose practical improvements to reduce waiting time, unnecessary WIP, poor handover, and repeated schedule delays.
  • Receive the mold repair request, confirm repair scope and priority, then prepare the repair timeline with Production.
  • Align the plan with internal capacity, material availability, machine status, and outsourcing requirements.
  • Identify risks early, coordinate corrective actions with stakeholders, and maintain the committed repair deadline.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production/Operations Management, or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Production Planner, Production Controller, Project Coordinator, Planner/Scheduler, or equivalent position in a mold shop, precision-machining, injection-molding manufacturing.
  • Must understand the real mold-shop process flow: steel and standard components, CAM/CNC, assembly/polishing, inspection, repair, and external processing.
  • Ability to read simple mechanical drawings, BOM/part lists, process routes, operation status, and delivery/milestone schedules.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills for schedule tracking, formulas, filtering, pivot tables, charts, and status reporting. Experience with ERP/MRP/MES is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Good English communication and coordination skills.
  • Organized, proactive, persistent in follow-up, comfortable communicating with operators and engineers, and able to handle changing priorities without losing data accuracy.
  • Experience with 5S, Lean, Kanban, visual production control, capacity planning, or shop-floor reporting is an advantage.
