Job Description

Job Summary

Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems and processes to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity. This role involves working with PLCs, robotics, control systems, and industrial software to support manufacturing and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Programming & Configuration

  • Program PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi)
  • Configure industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc.)
  • Perform system debugging, testing, and validation

Installation & Commissioning

  • Perform system startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure systems meet operational and safety requirements

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and automation issues
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Reduce downtime and improve machine reliability

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze system performance and propose improvements
  • Implement automation upgrades to increase productivity and reduce costs
  • Support Lean Manufacturing / TPM initiatives

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare technical documentation (schematics, manuals, SOPs)
  • Provide reports on system performance and issues

Collaboration

  • Work with Mechanical, Electrical, and Production teams
  • Train operators and technicians on system usage

Job Requirement

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial automation (depending on level)

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Knowledge of robotics systems (KUKA, ABB, Fanuc) is a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with vision systems, PLC siemens, Allen Bradley (AB), Robot.
  • Knowledge of safety standards.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments (automotive, electronics, etc.)

Working Conditions

  • Work in factory/Production environment.
  • Shift work is required.
  • Can work Overtime (OT) when necessary.
