Job Description

Barge Planning:

  • Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly barge movement plans based on vessel schedules, cargo readiness, and port conditions.
  • Coordinate with Sales, CS, Planning, and Warehouse teams to align cargo delivery schedules with barge availability.
  • Monitor cargo readiness and prioritize barge allocation to meet vessel laycan and shipment deadlines.
  • Maintain a rolling forecast of barge demand and capacity utilization.
  • Update and communicate loading plans, estimated arrival/departure times, and contingencies to all relevant parties.

Barge Operations:

  • Coordinate daily operations with barge service providers, loading ports, stevedores, and shipping agents.
  • Supervise barge loading/unloading at jetty/port to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and quantity standards.
  • Conduct barge inspections pre- and post-loading to ensure cleanliness and suitability.
  • Address and resolve operational issues such as delays, cargo quality concerns, or incidents.
  • Track and record barge performance metrics, turnaround time, and any demurrage incurred.
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs, safety regulations, and environmental standards.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of barge schedules, cargo volumes, contractor performance, and incidents.
  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly operation reports and KPI dashboards to management.
  • Support invoicing and settlement by verifying barge service costs and coordinating with the finance team.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Maritime, Transportation, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in barge operations, inland waterway logistics, or port/terminal operations.
  • Strong planning and coordination skills; ability to manage multiple schedules and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of barge logistics, vessel operations, and cargo handling procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and planning tools; experience with ERP/logistics software is a plus.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills; able to work under pressure and adapt quickly.
  • Willingness to travel to port sites or work outside of office hours when necessary.
