Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

  • Responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC machining programs using Mastercam to support the production of high-precision composite components.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. CNC Programming

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC machining programs using Mastercam.
  • Develop machining strategies for 5-axis CNC machines.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, machining parameters, feeds, and speeds to maximize machining efficiency and tool life.
  • Generate and verify NC code before releasing programs to production.
  • Simulate machining operations to identify and eliminate potential collisions or machining errors.
  • Maintain version control and documentation of CNC programs.

2. Manufacturing Process Development

  • Analyze engineering drawings, CAD models, and customer specifications to develop machining processes.
  • Develop machining methods that ensure dimensional accuracy, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in prototype, new product introduction (NPI), and process development activities.
  • Support fixture and workholding design to improve machining stability and repeatability.
  • Recommend tooling improvements and machining process enhancements.

3. Production Support

  • Provide technical support during production.
  • Troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues.
  • Assist in machine setup and first-piece verification.
  • Support production during new program implementation.
  • Investigate machining-related quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure machining programs are updated following engineering changes.

4. Quality Assurance

  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements accurately.
  • Ensure CNC programs comply with customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineers during first article inspections and process validation.
  • Support root cause analysis for machining defects.
  • Participate in FMEA, Control Plan, and continuous quality improvement activities.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of CAM programming experience, proficient in Mastercam.
  • Experience programming 3-axis to 5-axis CNC machines (5-axis preferred).
  • Hands-on CNC machining experience.
  • Good knowledge of GD&T, ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. 
  • Familiarity with CNC machine setup and operation.
