Job Purpose

Oversee the full category. This role carries responsibility for elevating creative and technical leadership within this space, ensuring the category continues to drive innovation, consumer relevance, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities
• Collaboration
Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with adidas LO/HQ, HSCC internal teams, and external technology partners. Ensure seamless communication and alignment with all stakeholders to achieve development goals and resolve challenges effectively.
• Product Development & Quality Management
Take full ownership of product quality across all stages of development, including materials, components, and compliance testing. Serve as a subject-matter expert on materials and components to ensure optimal performance, quality, and cost efficiency.
Champion innovation in product consistency, automation, and development processes to enhance speed and precision.
• Value Engineering
Streamline product creation by applying the principles of simplification, standardization, modularization, and automation. Continuously refine and re-engineer products to meet cost targets and optimize profitability. Maximize value opportunities by strengthening collaboration with vertically integrated business partners.
• Leadership & Team Development
Manage team operations, schedules, resources, and relationships to ensure timely and successful project execution. Lead, mentor, and coach team members — empowering them to take ownership, grow their competencies, and deliver exceptional results. Promote knowledge sharing, collaboration, and succession planning to build a resilient, future-ready team. Lead or participate in strategic development projects aimed at improving workflows and achieving operational excellence.
• Reporting & Documentation
Ensure complete accuracy and consistency in all material orders, swatch books, and system data across HS digitalization platforms. Prepare and deliver clear, concise updates, issue reports, and meeting documentation for senior management review.
Qualifications
• Experience
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in footwear development, preferably within a global sportswear or performance footwear environment.
• Skills
- Language Proficiency: Advanced or fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Communication & Leadership: Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills across diverse cultures and cross-functional teams.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Team Management: Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop team members effectively.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation: Strong ability to resolve complex issues and introduce innovative perspectives in product development.
- Influence & Coaching: Skilled in influencing and coaching PLM staff to foster a development-driven, consumer-centric mindset.
• Knowledge
- Project Management: Expertise in managing development projects to meet quality, cost, and production targets.
- Product Development & Manufacturing: Deep understanding of footwear materials, costing, chemical processes, upper and bottom making.
