Job Description

Key Result Areas:

· Maintain a friendly, neat and present image at all times

· Schedule working of all kitchen staff with the Catering supervisor, taking into consideration the volume of expected business. Arrange staff for overtime if warranted by unexpected business of dismiss them earlier if business is slow.

· Assign in details, specific duties to all employee under his supervision

· Coordinate closely with the Catering supervisor in determining quality and quantity of food material used with a view of eliminating waste and spoilage, especially meat, fish, products etc.

· Discuss with the Catering supervisor for prices of unlisted food items.

· Responsible of the food prepare in the kitchen. Check constantly for taste, temperature and visual appeal. Make sure that all products from the kitchen are correct.

· Be aware of all house rules and obey them and also assist in enforcing them. Conduct in such a manner so as to encourage fellow employee to do likewise

· Check the responsible task for daily following day. An inter kitchen transfers and requisition form has to be filled in clear, readable handwriting. All requisition approval either by the Catering supervisor .

· Orders to be made only once a day and any additional orders to be made only when extremely necessary

· Perform any other duties as required by the Catering supervisor .

· Ensure that company cost control policies and procedures are followed.

Job Requirement

KEY COMPETENCIES:

·       Trade certificate preferable

·       HACCP (Understanding and Implementing Food Safety Systems) Certificate

·       Experience in a high pressure catering environment, preferably in a commercial, hospitality or industrial environment

·       Experience in menu planning mass production kitchen and individual kitchen

·       Experience in or exposure to batch cooking

·       Knowledge of contemporary food trends

·       Food safety and hygiene knowledge

·       Customer service experience

·       Demonstrated ability to control food and labour costs

·       Understanding service needs of the operation

·       Leadership and team building abilities

·       Ability to work in a team environment with a hands-on approach

·       Well groomed and able to represent Sodexo in a professional manner

·       Customer focused

·       Organized

·       Self motivated

·       Strong customer service skills

·       Creativity and an eye for detail

·       Be an active member of the hospitality industry
