JOB PURPOSE
- Responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving the company's HSE management system to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. Partnering with all departments to establish robust safety principles, prevent incidents, and drive continuous improvement through systems thinking and data-driven decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparedness and Incident Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain emergency preparedness and response plans, including fire safety, chemical spills, medical emergencies, and natural disasters.
- Lead incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Coordinate emergency drills and evaluate response effectiveness to ensure organizational readiness.
- Establish business continuity and crisis management procedures.
- Monitor incident trends and identify opportunities for risk reduction and performance improvement.
Establishing a Safety Principles System
- Develop and promote a company-wide safety culture based on clear safety principles and behavioral expectations.
- Define HSE policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines aligned with legal and organizational requirements.
- Drive employee engagement through safety campaigns, awareness programs, and leadership initiatives.
- Ensure accountability for HSE performance at all organizational levels.
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers and employees on safe work practices.
Comprehensive Implementation of HSE Activities
- Plan, implement, and oversee all HSE programs, including occupational health, environmental management, industrial hygiene, and workplace safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, customer requirements, and corporate HSE standards.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Manage permit-to-work systems, contractor safety programs, and environmental monitoring activities.
- Prepare and submit required regulatory reports and maintain compliance documentation.
On-site Monitoring and Risk Management
- Conduct routine workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Implement risk mitigation measures using the hierarchy of controls.
- Monitor HSE performance indicators and develop action plans to address identified gaps.
- Ensure effective management of hazardous materials, waste disposal, ergonomics, and environmental impacts.
- Collaborate with operations teams to integrate HSE requirements into daily activities and process changes.
Systems Thinking and ISO Maintenance
- Maintain and continuously improve the HSE management system in accordance with applicable ISO standards, including International Organization for Standardization ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Lead internal and external audits, management reviews, and certification activities.
- Ensure document control, process standardization, and effective implementation of corrective actions.
- Apply systems-thinking principles to identify interdependencies, improve processes, and enhance overall HSE performance.
- Analyze HSE data and trends to support strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
