Function/Department description
Purpose of the position:
The IWS Manager has the site accountability for the ongoing phased development of IWS and helps the site to achieve their site OGSM/CBN, reduce losses and achieve total employee engagement.
Main Responsibilities
1. Lead the line organisation through the relevant IWS Phase Journey to improve results and achieve the site OGSM/CBN using DMS.
2. Coach and support the Line Lead orgnisations to be able to set direction during Daily Direction Setting (DDS) to deliver target results, produce reports for the site on achievements
3. Work effectively with employee representatives and adhere to working agreements
4. Develop the IWS Site Master / 90-Day Plan to address losses and build capability
5. Monthly review of Site Master Plans and results
6. Utilise the IWS tools and processes as needed and as outlined in the master plan (e.g. Give and Gets, Push and Pull pillars, HSE and Q BOS, Triggers)
7. Drive breakthrough results in PR, Planned and Unplanned Downtime while delivering against the Master Production Schedule (use OPM and other tools)
8. Lead issue resolution “to Root Cause” on the floor of chronic stops
9. Coach necessity & use of UPS, including 6W2H & speed of execution (72 hours)
10. Lead and coach Defect Handling and Clean, Inspect, Lubricate (CILs) DMS’s for line(s)
11. On the floor coaching of line leads and equipment owners (where needed)
12. Execute monthly Health Checks, identifying gaps in system, and implementing appropriate countermeasures
13. Coach the use of standard work to eliminate non-value added work, including coaching the link to effort reduction
14. Implement further DMS as outlined in the master plan (60 in total)
Scope of authorisation / decision making
- Makes weekly and monthly decisions to support the line teams
- Owns actions as part of the site leadership team
- Would escalate to the plant manager
- Identifies longer term investment and future proofing needs for the site
Education
· Bachelor / Master of engineering degree in a science-based field (e.g. Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Mechanical, Electrical…).
Experience
· Experience of working within food manufacturing / production environment and/or FMCG
· IWS experience preferred (Minimum lean six sigma or similar lean system experience)
· Cost Centre Management, Budgeting and Forecasting
· Capital Expenditure process awareness.
· Procurement processes
· Working with Quality Management Systems
Qualifications (certificates)
Example: Lean Six Sigma
· University or similar degree qualification in Engineering / Manufacturing or similar bias
