Job Description

The Master Data Management Specialist owns and operationalizes enterprise master data across key domains (product, customer, vendor, store, employee, finance). The role manages day-to-day data creation/maintenance and quality across ERP, POS, and CRM/CDP systems according to defined standards, and partners closely with Data Governance, Data Engineering, and business functions to ensure master data is accurate, consistent, and fit for business use.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Master Data Operations

  • Manage and, where assigned, execute master data creation, modification, validation, blocking, and deactivation activities in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Coordinate master data requests across ERP, POS, CRM/CDP, Finance, Supply Chain, HR, and other relevant systems.
  • Ensure requests are properly documented, approved, completed within agreed service levels, and supported by appropriate audit records.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to identify and address inactive, obsolete, duplicated, incomplete, or incorrectly classified records.

2. Master Data Quality & Issue Management

  • Implement master data quality rules and validation controls with Data Owners, Data Governance, and system owners.
  • Monitor data quality across accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity, uniqueness, and timeliness.
  • Identify data issues, coordinate cleansing and corrective actions, and track issues through to closure.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring issues and recommend preventive process, control, or system improvements.

3. System Implementation, Migration & Data Readiness

  • Coordinate data profiling, mapping, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and business sign-off activities.
  • Assess and ensure master data readiness for migration, UAT, go-live, new store openings, product launches, and business-unit onboarding.
  • Work with system owners, Data Engineering, and implementation partners to resolve master data issues during and after implementation.

4. Data Governance Support

  • Serve as the day-to-day operational contact for master data requests and issues, escalating cross-functional conflicts, policy questions, or exceptions to the Head of Data.
  • Coordinate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, system teams, vendors, and business functions to clarify requirements and resolve cross-functional issues.
  • Support the Data Governance function in implementing ownership, stewardship, policies, and quality requirements at the master data layer.
  • Train and guide business users on day-to-day master data entry, maintenance, and request procedures.

Job Requirement

1. Education/ Training Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems/Information Management, Business Administration, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Relevant certification in Master Data Management, Data Governance, Data Quality or Business Analysis is an advantage.

2. Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in master data management, data operations, accounting operations, ERP data management or a related field.
  • Practical experience managing one or more master data domains such as product, vendor, customer, store, employee, chart of accounts or financial dimensions.
  • Experience in Retail, F&B, FMCG or other multi-site, consumer-facing organizations is preferred.
  • Experience supporting ERP implementation, data migration, system integration or business transformation projects.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, POS, CRM/CDP or similar enterprise platforms is preferred.

3. Knowledge of:

  • Master data request, approval and maintenance workflows.
  • ERP, POS, CRM/CDP and other enterprise business-system concepts.
  • Data migration processes, including profiling, mapping, cleansing, validation and reconciliation.
  • Basic understanding of system integration, APIs, data pipelines and data synchronization.
  • Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools; knowledge of SQL, Power BI or master data tools is an advantage.

4. Skills (Ability to):

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify data inconsistencies and control gaps.
  • Analytical, problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Strong process documentation and standard operating procedure development skills.
  • Good prioritization and time-management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage high volumes of data requests while maintaining accuracy and control.
  • Working hours: as per business needs. Typically, 8am-5pm Mon-Friday.
