Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly experienced Material Engineer with deep expertise in plastic blow molding and injection molding for large parts, ideally in the furniture industry. This role will lead research and development of plastic resins, support process optimization, and drive quality troubleshooting across manufacturing operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead R&D initiatives for new resin formulations tailored to furniture applications (e.g., durability, aesthetics, cost-efficiency). 
  • Collaborate with design, tooling, and production teams to ensure material compatibility and process efficiency. 
  • Conduct root cause analysis and resolve quality issues related to plastic materials and molding processes. 
  • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers, additives, and recycled materials for sustainability and performance. 
  • Develop and maintain material specifications, testing protocols, and technical documentation. 
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies in polymer science. 

Job Requirement

MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS

  1. Education: Bachelor’s or Master ’s degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or related field.
  1. Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in plastic blow molding and injection molding
  2. Knowledge
  • Proven track record in resin development, material selection, and process troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of thermoplastics, additives, recycled polymers, and furniture-grade materials.
  • Experience with quality systems, DOE, and failure analysis tools (e.g., SEM, FTIR, DSC).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  1. Skills and Abilities
  • Experience in manufacturing furniture or consumer goods.
  • Familiarity with sustainability initiatives in plastics (e.g., bio-based resins, recyclability).
  • Knowledge of international standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO) for plastic materials.
  • English communication skills (speaking, reading, writing) is a plus

WORKING CONDITION

  • Manufacturing environment with mix of office and production floor work
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and temperature-controlled environment
  • Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)in production areas
  • May require overtime as needed
  • Exposure to plastic materials and processing equipment
  • Physical requirements include extended periods of walking, standing, and occasional lifting up to 10kg
  • Regular interaction with all levels of staff, customers, and suppliers
