Job Description

We are seeking a Mechatronics Team Lead to lead the development of state-of-the-art Robotic Vertical Farm systems. This is an exceptional opportunity to spearhead a high-impact project that integrates computer vision with advanced mechatronics. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of agriculture, directly improving farming practices and productivity.

As the Mechatronics Team Lead, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing the development of complex systems, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring that our hardware meets the needs of our farming and aquaculture teams. Your leadership will guide the team from concept to deployment, ensuring seamless integration between hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Design & Development:
  • Direct the design and development of complex mechanical and electronic systems for Robotic Vertical Farming applications.
  • Take a hands-on approach when necessary, working closely with junior engineers to guide them through the design and development process.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from prototyping and testing to deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with the Computer Vision and Software teams to ensure smooth hardware-software integration for optimal system performance.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship:
  • Mentor and inspire junior engineers and interns, helping them grow professionally and ensuring a collaborative team environment.
  • Lead by example, instilling a strong problem-solving mindset and encouraging innovation within the team.
  • Manage and motivate a diverse team of engineers, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
  • System Testing & Iteration:
  • Conduct rigorous system testing, debugging, and continuous improvement to ensure product reliability and performance.
  • Provide detailed documentation of designs, processes, and project updates for both internal stakeholders and external partners

Job Requirement

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a keen eye for detail.
  • At least 3 years of extensive experience working with electronic components, sensors, and actuators in smart systems.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD software) with 2+ years of hands-on experience in complex design tasks.
  • 2+ years of proven experience assembling and controlling mechatronic systems such as 3D printers, CNC machines, or robotics.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
  • Familiarity with modern tools like Socket.io, MongoDB, and Docker (or willingness to learn).
  • Experience managing teams of at least 5 engineers.
  • A proven track record of successfully building systems with a value exceeding $100,000 USD.
