Job Description

  • Responsible for managing all purchasing activities for materials and equipment used in landscape construction, design, and garden construction projects.

  • Coordinate with project/construction teams to monitor contractor performance, quality and compliance with contractual requirements

  • Participate in developing and implementing long-term purchasing strategies and plans, ensuring that projects are supplied with materials, equipment, plants, and landscape decorative items on time and in accordance with required quality standards.

  • Select and negotiate with suppliers and contractors providing materials, construction materials, plants, and outdoor equipment.

  • Manage and supervise the execution of purchasing contracts, ensuring that all contract terms and conditions are properly complied with.

  • Work closely with related departments (Design, Engineering, Construction) to ensure that purchasing activities are effective and meet project requirements.

  • Monitor and inspect the quality of materials before delivery and acceptance, ensuring no discrepancies or shortages in quantity or quality.

  • Participate in the inspection and quality assessment of plants and ornamental trees at nurseries, ensuring compliance with species, specifications, aesthetic standards, and design requirements.

  • Coordinate the resolution of issues related to plant replacement, non-conforming plants, or plant damage/death occurring during transportation or construction.

  • Coordinate the control of purchasing costs by project and monitor compliance with approved procurement budgets.

  • Analyze and report price fluctuations of materials and plants; propose cost-optimization solutions to the Board of Directors / Department Head.

  • Coordinate the development and improvement of purchasing procedures, supplier evaluation, and acceptance/inspection of materials and plants.

  • Prepare periodic reports (weekly/monthly/quarterly) on purchasing status, supplier performance, and supply risks.

  • Support the Head of Purchasing in managing and operating the Purchasing Department; act on behalf of the Head of Purchasing when formally authorized.

  • Participate in guiding, coaching, and evaluating the work performance of purchasing staff.

  • Analyze the market, identify new suppliers and new products, and propose cost-effective solutions while ensuring required quality standards.

  • Manage, train, and develop the purchasing team, creating a dynamic and efficient working environment.

Job Requirement

  • Minimum 7 years experience in purchasing & procurement in construction. Those with landscaping experience or garden design & construction is an added advantage

  • College or University degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Economics / Construction Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Finance-Accounting (with understanding of costs and payments), Construction / Engineering, or related fields.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to work with partners, suppliers, and internal departments.

  • Solid knowledge of landscape construction materials, plants, and outdoor equipment.

  • Problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to make quick and accurate decisions.

  • Proficient in office software, purchasing management tools, and ERP systems (if applicable).

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time and workload effectively.

  • Ability to write and communicate in English at a basic working level.

  • High integrity, disciplined, proactive, and responsible.

  • Dynamic, careful, passionate, and eager to improve.
