Job Description

The Quality Engineer (FAI Specialist) will be responsible for conducting First Article Inspections to ensure that products meet quality and performance standards. This role requires a deep understanding of measurement techniques, plastic part drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). The ideal candidate will be proficient in using various measurement equipment and have strong English communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and create GPAP/PPAP documents in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Follow up on document status and submit GPAP/PPAP to the customer's system in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Create SIP (Standard Inspection Procedure) based on customer drawings and requirements, ensuring that all necessary functional test criteria are clearly defined and included.
  • Submit SPMP (Quality Control Plan) to the customer after completion of FAI (First Article Inspection) or QB (Quality Build) phase.
  • Support new mold qualification and validation activities, including EB (Engineering Build), and QB stages.
  • Monitor and check measurement data collected during QB/EB stages, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Production, QA, Engineering, etc.) to resolve quality issues during new product introduction and mold validation processes.
  • Use common measurement equipment, including but not limited to, Visual Measurement Machines (VMM)
  • Interpret and understand technical drawings and specifications related to plastic parts.
  • Perform statistical analysis including CPK (Process Capability Index) and GR&R (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility) studies to evaluate measurement systems and process capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and ensure traceability of measurement data.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management system requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes and product quality.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in English.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 01 years of experience in quality engineering, experience with GPAP/PPAP and plastic parts.
  • Proficiency in using measurement equipment such as VMM, CMM, calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments.
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, particularly those related to plastic components.
  • Solid experience with GD&T principles and their application in inspections.
  • Proficiency in NG dimension analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of statistical tools such as SPC, CPK and GR&R studies.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management system standards.
  • English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Certification in quality assurance (e.g., CQE, CQA) is a plus.
