Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Senior Mold Engineer in the Purchasing Department is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing mold, jig suppliers to ensure mold, jig meet technical requirements, quality standards, cost targets, and delivery schedules. This role works closely with engineering, production, and suppliers to support new mold development and continuous improvement.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop mold, jig suppliers based on technical capability, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Request and review quotations from suppliers for new projects.
  • Conduct technical discussions with suppliers to ensure mold, jig meet product and process requirements.
  • Support supplier selection and participate in supplier evaluation and audits.
  • Coordinate mold development activities from design review to mold delivery and qualification.
  • Monitor project timelines to ensure molds are delivered according to production schedules.
  • Follow up mold trial results and work with suppliers to resolve technical issues.
  • Review mold, jig design, drawings, and technical specifications before mold fabrication.
  • Work with internal engineering teams to optimize mold, jig design for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
  • Support mold, jig modification and improvement to enhance product quality and production performance.
  • Analyze mold, jig costs and propose cost optimization opportunities.
  • Negotiate with suppliers based on technical understanding.
  • Track mold, jig budgets and ensure compliance with cost targets.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in mold, jig machining/fabrication or mold maintenance & repair (hands-on).
  • Experience working with mold suppliers or tooling manufacturers is preferred (will provide comprehensive training on purchasing skills).
  • Strong knowledge of mold design, mold manufacturing processes, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mold specifications.
  • Consistent, detail-oriented, analytical.
  • Good speaking and written skills in English.
