Senior Technical - Garment industry

Position Purpose:

The Garment Technical Developer is responsible for working closely with customers and internal teams to develop garment samples, ensure technical specifications are met, manage fitting processes, and support production through technical documentation and sample evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Communication & Tech Pack Management

Meet with customers before receiving the tech pack to understand requirements.

Study and analyze the tech pack immediately after receipt.

Sketch and design initial concepts.

Build measurement specifications (basic size to size grading).

Translate, hand over, and explain technical details to the pattern-making and sample development teams.

Communicate directly with customers to address issues during sample development.

Sample Development & Technical Support

Check and adjust 3D pattern shapes before releasing patterns.

Production Preparation

Inspect finished goods before delivery to customers.

Manage follow-up samples (from proto samples to SMS and fit samples).

Check seam positioning according to Tex stitching requirements.

Calculate thread consumption for production.

Conduct trial washing tests related to WMS requirements.

Provide feedback on samples returned for SMV calculations.

Internal Process & Documentation

Collaborate with the planning department to prepare internal size sets.

Create and manage internal size tech packs and communicate with factories.

Develop new season samples and washing colors.

Inspect SIZESET samples before and after washing at the factory.

Prepare documents for PPM (Pre-Production Meeting), including sample approvals, QC records, and PPM formats.

Attend PPM meetings with factories.

Update final tech packs in the WFX system.

Special Projects & Issue Resolution

Participate in special projects (such as uniform development, upcycling, and sustainability initiatives).

Address and resolve production-related issues, especially those connected to WMS requirements.

Monitor sample development progress and resolve issues arising from different departments.

Inspect samples before and after washing, following QC checks (based on WMS and measurement systems).

Write technical evaluation reports for each sample.

Participate in fit sessions to check garment fitting and collect customer feedback.

Take photos and videos of models wearing the samples.

Update and maintain fit comments and records in the shared system.

Proficient in CorelDRAW, 3D design software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Strong skills in garment sewing, fashion design, and understanding of fashion trends.

Experience in garment production processes within factories.

Ability to balance and meet customer demands regarding aesthetic design and production processes.

Regularly update knowledge of the apparel industry.

Maintain strong relationships and familiarity with relevant industry sectors.

Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and responsibilities.

Excellent communication skills and ability to provide strong customer support.
