The Canadian International School System – Vietnam (CISS-VN) operates three programs in Ho Chi Minh City, consisting of CIS, BCIS, AES, and CVK. The Canadian International School (CIS) serves Kindergarten – Grade 12 students where the Ontario curriculum is taught. The IB Diploma Program is also offered to students in Grades 11 & 12.
The Canadian International School (CIS) is looking for potential candidates for the position of Science Lab Teaching Assistant with the following details:
Supports Science Teachers in preparing resources and equipment, operating the experiment and supervising students for experimental activities.
Provides individual and small group support to students when required.
Provides extra help to students who need support, encouragement and motivation to complete tasks to their potential.
Provides class coverage when the main teacher is not available (10 sick days, Fall break and Winter break).
Assists in prepares lessons and materials, and keeping the labs tidy and organized for Science Teacher during non-instructional time.
Participates in translating and interpreting in parent-teacher conferences and other scenarios as needed.
Bridge communication among students, Vietnamese teachers & Science teachers in the classroom.
Helps with school events, trips and activities in and beyond the classroom.
Carries out supervision duties for classroom and school.
Support tasks in a quality and timely manner.
Observe students and inform the Science Teachers of any academic concerns.
Familiar with the Child Protection Policy and Procedure and Code of Conduct for staff and follow the information therein.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Science (physics/analytical chemistry).
Fluent in English communication skills.
At least 1 year of experience in teaching; teaching experience in Science is an advantage.
Enjoys working with young adults in an educational setting.
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
