Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the MOET Secondary Academic Manager will act as a pro-active focus for the maintenance and promotion of the overall effectiveness and quality of the MOET Secondary Programme, working hand-in-hand with the Central Cambridge Team to achieve the common goals of VAS as One School. The position is responsible for the following main areas:
1. Coordinating with the MOET teams of all VAS campuses to ensure all paperwork requirements / reports for MOET, DOET, OOETs and other relevant authorities are timely and sufficiently provided; organizing for campuses to maintain and update a proper filling system of all these paper works, reports as regulated by the relevant authorities
2. Handling daily academic operational matters of MOET Secondary Programme with the campus MOET Secondary teams
3. Developing and conducting academic quality control & assurance process and procedures of the MOET Secondary Programme as a part of the master school review & evaluation plan in parallel with the Central Cambridge Team
4. Coordinating the process of MOET Secondary teachers hiring, training, coaching and mentoring
5. Coordinating the implementation of the cross-curriculum projects and initiatives (between MOET and Cambridge) embarked on by the School
The specific responsibilities of the MOET Secondary Academic Programme include the followings:
1. Statutory Reporting & Compliance
• Producing & maintaining an up-to-date reporting system of all statutory reports, paperwork regulated by MOET, DOET, OOETs and other relevant authorities, ensuring that appropriate records are filed and monitored in full at both central and campus level, to certify compliance.
• Staying up to date with current regulations, advise the Deputy Principal / Principal and campus MOET teams of all relevant rules and guidelines set by the above regulatory bodies and carry out relevant plans to implement such rules and guidelines in all VAS campuses.
2. Academic Operations & Quality Assurance
• Lead a subject of relevant expertise for all VAS campuses and carry out the duties of a Subject Leader.
• Ensure the overall delivery of the MOET Secondary Programme of all VAS’s campuses meets its purpose of pursuing a high-quality education for students
• Establish and implement the necessary quality control and assurance system to ensure that the academic offering of the School meets the quality level as set out in the Academic Division’s KPIs for the MOET Programmes. This will include:
- Identify relevant academic issues and set up appropriate quality control and assurance systems/tools to handle and manage those issues effectively;
- Develop tools / systems to support campuses to keep track of and monitor students’ academic performance through appropriate assessment systems; provide required data and data returns, reports, performance indicators, and the annual quality control cycle.
- Timely identify deficiencies and implement measures to assist campuses in improving their students’ performance. This will include carrying out regular discussion with involved MOET management team at campuses on improvement measures as well as the actual implementation of such matters
- Develop the benchmarks of the MOET Secondary’s teaching and learning practices against external good practices and recommend changes / improvements to the current academic processes and procedures as appropriate
3. Teacher Recruitment & Training
• Coordinate the process of MOET teacher recruitment between the MOET Secondary Central Academic Team, HR and campuses
• Develop and actively participate in the delivery of the in-house MOET teachers training/coaching and mentoring programmes.
• Provide feedback about teachers’ training needs; evaluate content of training courses and monitor its application.
• Organize teacher-in-service workshops together with campuses to promote and enhance teamwork, professional development, professional work ethics and positive classroom practices in accordance to the School’s Vision, Mission and Core Values.
• Participate in classroom observation as and when needed to devise curriculum materials / strategies and to evaluate teachers’ adherence to the curriculum format / teaching methodologies as prescribed / proposed
• Assist the Deputy Principal/Principal to jointly conduct the evaluation of academic assistants & teachers to assure compliance with the academic standards set out in the Academic Division’s KPIs
4. Others
• Assisting the Deputy Principal/Principal in the development and implementation of all cross-curriculum projects / initiatives of the School
• Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Principal/Principal and VAS Management from time to time
