Job Purpose
The Senior Valuation Expert is responsible for leading the valuation and financial reporting processes for life insurance products, ensuring accurate reserve calculations and compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a deep understanding of actuarial principles, proficiency in valuation methodologies, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the company's financial health and strategic objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and analysis of quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with local and international accounting standards.
- Develop and maintain actuarial models for reserve calculations, capital requirements, and financial projections.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of reserves and other actuarial balances for life insurance products.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes affecting actuarial valuation and ensure company practices align with current regulations.
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory bodies, addressing any queries in a timely manner.
- Analyze experience studies to inform the setting of actuarial assumptions for mortality, morbidity, lapse rates, and expenses.
- Regularly review and adjust assumptions to reflect emerging experience and industry trends.
- Work closely with finance, product development, and risk management teams to provide actuarial insights supporting business decisions.
- Communicate complex actuarial concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Identify opportunities to enhance valuation processes, implementing automation and efficiency improvements where feasible.
- Mentor and develop junior actuarial staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Fellowship in a recognized actuarial professional body (e.g., FSA, FIA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry, with a focus on valuation and financial reporting.
- Proven experience in leading valuation processes and managing regulatory reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in actuarial modeling software and advanced Excel capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of life insurance products, valuation methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex actuarial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
