The company has achieved significant success and has recently invested in production line technology and infrastructure. Due to continued growth and overall expansion, there are some strategic recruitment needs for the following positions to upgrade the organization and enhance people capability.

SUMMARY

Our Partner seeks an accomplished Head of Transportation Senior Managerwith experience in the Food & Beverage industry. The job holder will lead the transportation department, overseeing all aspects of fleet management, logistics and import/export operations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations Management & Optimization:

  • Organize, monitor and control the dispatch of the transportation fleet to ensure on-time, safe, and complete delivery of goods to customers, adhering to planned schedules and routes.
  • Develop, implement and control standards for fuel and lubricant consumption, maintenance, and spare parts wear and tear to ensure vehicle readiness.
  • Develop and monitor weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual staffing plans for the Transportation Department, aligned with the company’s strategic direction and business plan, ensuring adequate personnel for operational needs.
  • Optimize transportation routes and schedules to minimize time and costs while adhering to approved transportation plans.
  • Oversee and manage the timely and efficient flow of vehicles in and out of warehouses, including the exchange of transportation documents with drivers, ensuring compliance with company regulations.
  • Proactively identify, monitor and mitigate transportation risks, ensuring swift and effective resolution of any issues that arise.

Vehicle Monitoring, Maintenance & Compliance:

  • Monitor and analyze fuel consumption data from vehicle sensors, reporting findings and insights promptly.
  • Plan and execute preventative maintenance schedules for all company vehicles (transportation, logistics and administrative departments) to ensure operational readiness and meet transportation demands.
  • Manage vehicle documentation, including insurance, registration, inspections and permits, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Manage and resolve traffic incidents, collaborating with authorities, insurance agencies and third parties to ensure swift vehicle recovery and minimize operational disruption.
  • Organize and oversee training programs on traffic safety regulations for drivers, conducting interviews and assessments to ensure compliance and safe driving practices.
  • Oversee GPS tracking and route adherence for all company vehicles, ensuring compliance with company policies and delivery schedules.

Import/Export and Customs Management:

  • Manage all import and export operations, including customs procedures, ensuring accurate and complete documentation in compliance with government regulations.
  • Oversee and manage relationships with freight forwarders, evaluating their performance and ensuring efficient customs clearance and transportation services.
  • Manage customs clearance for all import and export shipments, including various trade types (commercial, non-commercial, temporary import/export, etc.), ensuring accurate declarations (import/export duties, VAT, environmental taxes, etc.) and cost-effective clearance processes.
  • Control and optimize customs clearance costs (customs duties, agency fees, shipping line charges, containers charges, etc.).
  • Open L/C for international trade contracts as requested by the Purchasing Department, ensuring timely processing.
  • Oversee the transportation of goods from border crossings to the company and vice versa, ensuring adherence to company plans.
  • Represent the company in dealings with customs authorities and other relevant agencies to resolve issues such as physical inspections, certifications, claims, etc., ensuring smooth customs clearance.
  • Manage import/export documentation and liaise with customs authorities for post-clearance audits, price consultations, tax consultations and tax refund.
  • Stay up to date with import/export regulations and policies.
  • Advise the Purchasing Department on international trade practices (international payments, Incoterms, shipping documents, etc.) during contract negotiations.

Budgeting, Cost Control and Reporting:

  • Participate in developing annual budgets aligned with the company’s transportation strategy and financial targets, ensuring timely submission and approval.
  • Monitor and control all departmental expenses, optimizing costs according to company objectives and regulations.
  • Oversee and manage driver expense reimbursements, ensuring timely processing.
  • Track revenue, costs and profitability for each vehicle, ensuring accurate cost allocation.
  • Manage driver payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments according to regulations.
  • Control transportation cost benchmarks, monitor, and manage fuel and toll expenses, ensuring timely payments.
  • Control and verify transportation costs incurred by external suppliers for the factories, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely processing.​

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Logistics, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience, preferably in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation operations management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address domestic and international transportation challenges.
  • Ability to plan, organize resources and deliver results in line with company strategy.
  • Proficient in computer and warehouse/transportation management software.
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and decisively.
  • Strong problem-solving, monitoring and staff training skills.
  • Ability to train and motivate employees.
