Cost Controller

Function/Department description

The Finance & Accounting Department is responsible for managing the company’s financial health and compliance. Its key functions include financial planning and analysis, budgeting, accounting operations, treasury management, cost control, taxation, and statutory reporting. The team ensures transparency, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations, while providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making and sustainable business growth.

Purpose of the position  

The role is responsible for controlling and optimizing manufacturing and operational cost performance by monitoring costs, analyzing variances, ensuring accurate product costing and inventory valuation, and providing financial insights to support budgeting, operational efficiency, decision-making, and continuous cost improvement across production operations.

Main Responsibilities: 

Cost Control & Analysis

Monitor and control manufacturing, processing, and operational costs across all production units.

Track actual costs vs. standard costs, budgets, and forecasts, identifying variances and root causes.

Prepare detailed cost variance analysis reports for management, with actionable insights.

Analyze cost drivers across processing stages (e.g., steaming, shelling, drying, grading, packing, logistics).

Recommend cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements without compromising quality or compliance.

Budgeting & Forecasting Support

Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting process, with a focus on cost assumptions.

Work closely with operations and procurement to validate cost inputs and assumptions.

Monitor budget performance and highlight potential overruns or savings opportunities early.

Inventory & Production Costing

Ensure accurate product costing, including raw materials, labor, overhead, and yield losses.

Review inventory movements, wastage, and yield efficiency to identify improvement opportunities.

Support physical inventory counts and reconcile variances.

Monitor finished goods and work-in-progress valuation in line with accounting policies.

Financial Reporting Support

Prepare and review cost-related schedules and reports for monthly management reporting.

Provide cost insights to support pricing, margin analysis, and strategic decisionmaking.

Support audits by providing cost breakdowns, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

Process Improvement & Internal Control

Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process improvements in cost tracking and reporting.

Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls related to cost management.

Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures in all costrelated activities.

Collaboration & Business Partnering

Work closely with operations, procurement, production, logistics, and finance teams.

Act as a finance business partner to operations by providing meaningful cost insights.

Assist in ensuring compliance with company procurement policies and legal policies.

Additional Tasks: to perform any other tasks and assignments as directed by the management from time to time.  

Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree of University with a dual major in Finance & Accounting 

Experience: 

Minimum 8 years of experience in Finance and Accounting, with at least

1–2 years of experience in an equivalent role.

Qualifications (certificates):

Strong knowledge of cost accounting and manufacturing costing
