Data Analyst – Costing

Product Costing

• Develop and maintain standard product costing models.
• Calculate material, labor, overhead, and logistics costs.
• Update cost databases following material price or process changes.
• Perform cost roll-ups for new products.
• Review and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routing information.

Cost Analysis

• Analyze manufacturing costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor cost variances between standard and actual costs.
• Investigate significant cost deviations and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare margin and profitability analysis by product, customer, and project.
• Support make-versus-buy evaluations.

Data Management

• Maintain accurate costing databases.
• Ensure ERP costing data is complete and accurate.
• Clean, validate, and reconcile data from multiple systems.
• Develop automated reports and dashboards.

Reporting

• Produce weekly and monthly costing reports.
• Prepare KPI dashboards including:
  • Material cost trends
  • Labor efficiency
  • Manufacturing overhead
  • Gross margin
  • Product profitability
  • Cost variance analysis
• Present findings to management.

Cross-functional Support

• Support Sales with quotation costing.
• Work with Purchasing to evaluate supplier pricing.
• Assist Engineering with cost impact of design changes.
• Support Production in identifying efficiency improvements.
• Participate in new product introduction (NPI) costing.

Continuous Improvement

• Improve costing methodologies.
• Automate repetitive reporting tasks.
• Develop Power BI dashboards and Excel models.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization through data analysis.

Bachelor's degree in: Finance,  Accounting, Data Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, Economics, Supply Chain Management

Experience

• 2–5 years in: Cost analysis, Manufacturing finance, Business analytics, Product costing, Data analysis, Manufacturing experience is highly preferred.

Technical Skills

Required:

• Advanced Microsoft Excel: Pivot Tables, Power Query, Power Pivot, Advanced formulas
• ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, or similar)
• Power BI or Tableau
• Strong data analysis skills

Preferred:

• SQL
• VBA
• Statistical analysis
• Manufacturing costing systems
