POSITION SUMMARY:
Industrial Engineer is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, production capacity, manpower, line balance, and workplace efficiency to achieve productivity, quality, cost, delivery, and safety targets. The IE works closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Planning, NPI, and other functions to continuously improve manufacturing operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Production Process & Line Optimization:
- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes for electronic products, including PCBA/SMT, box build, assembly, testing, and final inspection.
- Develop and maintain process flow, standard work, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Conduct line balancing based on takt time, cycle time, manpower, and production demand.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve production flow and throughput.
- Optimize workstation layout, material flow, and operator movement.
2. Time Study & Capacity Planning
- Conduct time studies, motion studies, and cycle-time analysis.
- Establish standard time and labor requirements for production processes.
- Calculate line capacity, manpower requirements, UPH, takt time, and productivity.
- Support Planning and Production teams in capacity analysis for new and existing programs.
- Recommend manpower allocation according to production volume and demand.
3. Productivity & Continuous Improvement
- Drive productivity improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, VSM, and other CI methodologies.
- Identify and eliminate waste such as waiting time, excessive motion, transportation, over-processing, and unnecessary inventory.
- Analyze production performance and implement corrective actions to improve OEE, UPH, labor efficiency, and line utilization.
- Support cost-reduction and labor-saving initiatives.
4. New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Participate in NPI projects from prototype/EVT/DVT/PVT to mass production.
- Review product and process requirements from an IE/manufacturing perspective.
- Support production line setup, workstation design, tooling requirements, and manpower planning.
- Develop initial cycle-time, capacity, and labor assumptions for new products.
- Work with Engineering and Production to ensure smooth transition from NPI to mass production.
5. Layout & Manufacturing Engineering Support
- Design and optimize production line layouts and workstation arrangements.
- Evaluate equipment, tools, fixtures, and automation opportunities.
- Improve material presentation and line-side inventory flow.
- Support implementation of semi-automation/automation to improve productivity and ergonomics.
6. Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring
- Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor key IE/manufacturing KPIs such as:
- + UPH / Output
- + Labor efficiency
- + Cycle time
- + Takt time
- + OEE
- + Line balance
- + Capacity utilization
- + Direct labor productivity
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly productivity reports and improvement proposals.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, NPI, Planning, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and EHS.
- Support production ramp-up, line transfer, engineering changes, and capacity expansion.
- Provide IE analysis and recommendations to management for operational decisions.
