Job Summary:
The Piping Engineer (Checker) is responsible for the comprehensive review and technical verification of all piping engineering deliverables produced by the Engineering Contractor (T.EN). The primary objective is to ensure that all drawings and documents—including Isometrics, GAs, Pipe Supports, Tie-in Packages, and Stress Reports—are technically accurate, fully aligned with the 3D Model and P&IDs, and compliant with project specifications and international codes.
Furthermore, this role serves as a key integration point by reviewing documents from other engineering disciplines (Civil, Electrical, Instrumental, and Mechanical) that interface with piping systems. This role also provides critical technical support to the Piping Construction Team to ensure a seamless transition from design to field execution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engineering Design Verification
- Deliverable Auditing: Review and verify the technical accuracy of contractor-submitted drawings (Isometrics, GAs, Pipe Support Drawings, and Tie-in Packages).
- Technical Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to international codes (ASME B31.3/B31.1), project specifications, and Safety/Environment standards.
- Design Alignment: Verify 100% consistency between the P&ID, 3D Model, and 2D Drawings.
- Stress & Vendor Review: Review Stress Analysis reports and Vendor Drawings (Piping special items /Valves)
2. Interdisciplinary Document Review
- Civil/Structural Interface: Review civil/structural drawings (Underground, steel structure, foundation, etc)
- Electrical & Instrumentation Interface: Review cable tray layouts and instrument locations to prevent clashes with piping. Review GA drawing for in-line instrument items.
- Mechanical Equipment Coordination: Review mechanical documents and drawings to confirm nozzle schedules, orientations, and allowable nozzle loads match the piping design.
- Clash Management: Proactively identify and resolve spatial conflicts between piping and other discipline services within the 3D model environment.
3. Piping Construction Support
- Prepare piping engineering drawing relate to construction activities to construction team
- Assist the construction team in resolving site interferences and reviewing "Non-Conformance Reports" (NCR) related to piping installation.
