R&D Power Electronics Design Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities

• Design & Analyze: Design, analyze, and optimize Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, Flyback, Forward PFC, and LLC converter topologies.
• Simulation & Verification: Perform circuit simulation, component selection, and design verification.
• Magnetic Design: Design magnetic components including transformers and inductors.
• Sourcing & Quality Support: Support cost reduction initiatives and alternative component sourcing. Address engineering queries (EQ) from suppliers to ensure quality, performance, and compliance requirements are met.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize efficiency, thermal performance, power density, and reliability.
• Troubleshooting: Debug hardware issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Testing & Validation: Evaluate and validate designs through electrical, thermal, EMI/EMC, and reliability testing.
• Compliance: Support product certification activities according to international safety and EMC standards.
• Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and design guidelines.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and quality engineers.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience Level: Minimum 3 years of experience in the design, testing, qualification, or application of electronic/electrical components and products.
• Specialized Experience: Experienced with AC-DC power supply and battery charger / EV charger. Proven experience in component qualification, testing, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and reliability assessment.
• Education: Degree or above in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of electronic components and switching power supply topologies, including operating principles and application considerations.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment (Oscilloscope, Power analyzer, Electronic load, and spectrum analyzer).
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as LTspice, SIMPLIS, PSpice, or equivalent.
  • Bonus: Experience in thermal management and environmental testing is a plus.
• Process & Tools: Good understanding of BOM management and document control systems. Familiar with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
• Languages: Good in English (speaking and technical reading)
