Job Summary:
• The Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all company activities are compliant with Regulatory and Statutory requirements of Vietnam related to Import, Export and Local Trade procedures and guidelines. Responsible for strict adherence to all applicable trading control requirements including Quality, Safety and Environment regulations. Encompasses developing and implementing robust compliance programs, conducting thorough risk assessments, overseeing customs and manufacturing-related documentation, and acting as the primary liaison with local government bodies for audits and regulatory matters. The Trade Compliance Manager provides expert guidance to internal stakeholders, ensuring the company maintains a strong compliance posture across all relevant operational areas.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Local Customs and Trade Compliance:
· Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance programs tailored to local customs and trade regulations.
· Stay abreast of changes in local laws, regulations, and administrative rulings affecting import and export operations.
· Ensure accurate classification of goods according to the local Harmonized System (HS) code and valuation methods.
· Manage and oversee the preparation and submission of all required customs documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
· Ensure compliance with local export control regulations.
2. Government Liaison and Audit Management:
· Act as the primary point of contact for local customs authorities and other relevant government agencies.
· Manage and coordinate all local customs audits and inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with customs authorities and other regulatory agencies.
3. Risk assessment and management
· Provide expert guidance and support to internal departments on local customs and trade compliance matters.
· Conduct risk assessments to identify potential trade compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Job Requirement:
· Bachelor’s degree in legal, logistics, business administration, or equivalent.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs and trade compliance with a strong focus on local regulation, preferably in FMCG.
· In-depth and comprehensive knowledge of local Vietnamese customs laws, related regulations, and procedure.
· Proven experience in managing customs audits and interacting with government agencies.
· Excellent understanding of local import/export documentation and procedures.
· Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation skills, communication and influencing skills.
· Able to work well with multi department and build strong internal and external working relationships.
· Fluent in local language and English.
